Alyssandra ran up to the door of the lab and knocked on it rapidly until her knuckles started to hurt.
"Professor Cedar, I'm here for my starter!" She shouted excitedly.

Professor Cedar yanked the door open. "Hi there, come on in!" He said, grinning. Nina the Ninetails purred happily and rubbed her face on Alyssandra's leg. Professor Cedar readily opened a cabinet full of Pokeballs. "Had your eye on any perticular Pokemon?" He asked.

Professor Cedar smiled broadly. "Why, that's just what set me and Nina in such a good mood today! A shiny Vulpix arrived!" He said, Nina nodding in agreement. He drew out two Pokeballs, and from them came a golden shiny Vulpix and an ordinary Riolu.

"Hn, shiny Pokemon never really appealed to me. It's not like they're stronger than normal, they're just a different color." Alyssandra said, kneeling down to get a better look at the two Pokemon. The shiny Vulpix was pretty, yes, but was it really worth it? Who was stronger? Vulpix or Riolu? Ninetales or Lucario? Fire or Fighting?
"Okay, so this Vulpix is surely level 5, like all starters, so it'd know Ember and Tail Whip." She turned to the Riolu. "But Riolu at level 5 knows Quick Attack, Foresight, and Endure. All very good moves. Besides, Riolu are very rare, and I could probably catch a Vulpix near the volcano on Route Four." She reached out and scratched the Vulpix's ears. "Sorry, little guy. But I'm gonna have to go with Riolu." She said, then stood up.

The Riolu grinned smugly, folding his arms. The Vulpix stuck its little pink tongue out. Riolu returnedthe gesture.
The professor gathered together Lyssy's starter items. "You be good, mind you!" He told Riolu sternly. It shrugged.

Alyssandra recieved her first Pokemon!

Alyssandra took the bag full of items, bowed, then said, "Thank you, Professor. Come on, Riolu!" She turned to leave, filled with glee. Only a day had passed since her first Spirit Transformation and she already had a Pokemon to call her own!
